1947-58 Piccolo Teatro

£12.99

Product description

1947-58 Piccolo Teatro. Moneta, 1958. Hdbk. 271 pp. Original red, green, and black and white dust jacket intact, apart from one tear at base of spine. Red cloth boards. Many black and white illustrations.

This large and handsomely designed book celebrates the eleventh anniversary of Milan’s world-famous Piccolo Teatro (‘Little Theatre’). A must for any serious student of theatre history, this is a splendid record of the ground-breaking early years of this energetic and innovative theatre and its brilliant company of actors, directors and technicians. Wonderfully redolent of the post-war theatrical revival throughout Europe, this volume not only contains hundreds of atmospheric black and white photographs of actual productions, accompanying publicity, stage sets, musical scores, floor-plans, visiting dignitaries (Bertolt Brecht himself, among others), but a very comprehensively informative text.
