A Perspective on English Avant-Garde Film: A touring exhibition

£19.99

Product description

A Perspective on English Avant-Garde Film: A touring exhibition. Selected by David Curtis and Deke Dusinberre. Organised by the Arts Council of Great Britain and the British Council 1978.

In the exuberant climate of the 1960s many of the traditional barriers between painting, sculpture, and other forms of artistic expression were broken down. One of the results has been that over the last ten years in this country, there has been a remarkable growth of interest in film as an autonomous medium, which has been fostered by the art schools and, especially, by the film-makers' cooperative movement. Independent film-makers in England began to receive a modest amount of official support and recognition at the beginning of the 1970s when the Arts council started to subsidise and to exhibit widely a significant range of their work. (Source: Foreword)

This book is an illustrated guide to a touring exhibition organised by the Arts Council of Great Britain and the British Council in 1978.

The condition of the book is very good. The front cover is creased (see picture 1).
