Movies for the Millions

£14.99

Product description

Title: Movies for the Millions

Author: Gilbert Seldes

With a Foreword by Charles Chaplin

First Published, September, 1937

In The Seven Lively Arts and other books, Mr Seldes has established a reputation as one of the most acute and perceptive of modern American critics. This is not the first book he has written about the Movies, but he considers it to be easily the most important, for it incorporates much first hand information gained from a spell of picture making in Hollywood, and has the advantage of over 130 carefully chosen and equally carefully arranged illustrations, which form a running accompaniment to his thesis at every point. This book deals with the whole subject of the Movies - the Art and the Industry - both in the essentials and the detail.

The book has green boards and black lettering to the spine.

The upper board has two indents - one near the centre and one along the lower edge. The lower board has an indent in the lower section.

The upper and lower boards have stains.

The upper and lower edges of the spine have bumping and wear and tear.

All four outer corners upper and lower have bumping and wear and tear.

The upper and lower edge of the upper and lower board have wear and tear.

The front and rear endpages have a photographic illustration.

The front and rear endpages have foxing.

There is foxing on the pages throughout the book.

The upper page edges have tanning and the outer and lower have foxing.

The dustjacket is in fair condition.

The upper edge of the spine of the dustjacket has very heavy wear and tear.

The lower edge of the spine of the dustjacket has wear and tear.

The inside of the dustjacket has foxing.

All four outer corners of the dustjacket both upper and lower have heavy wear and tear particuarly along the hinge of the front and rear sleeve.

The dustjacket has been covered in a plastic film that is removable.

There is a tear on the front of the dustjacket just off the centre.
