Zeffirelli Alla Scala

£50.00

Product description

Title: Zeffirelli Alla Scala

a cura di Vittoria Crespi Morbio

This book pays tribute to Franco Zeffirelli's art and retraces his collaboration with La Scala from the early years of his career.
This publication is made possible by the generous and ready patronage of partners from industry and commerce who appreciate the values of culture and art.
In nearly thirty years of richly varied activity, the Amici della Scala have printed more than seventy publications, which have combined the expertise of patrons, artists, scholars, photographers and graphic designers to honour Italian and foreign figures and institutions.
With La Scala we now honour one of the foremost names in Italian theatre - past and present. Zeffirelli has expressed his inspiration in all forms of entertainment, with unwavering respect for each different text staged or recreated on screens. This book illustrates the rise of an outstanding talent in the younger works of Zeffirelli for the Teatro alla Scala.
From his artistic personality and love of musical text have sprung the innumerable inventions of stmospheres, settings, figures, movements and gestures, illustrated in this book, which Zeffirelli has lavished on the Scala stage. I also wish to take this opportunity to mention, with admiration and gratitude, the craftspersons and workers at the Scala workshops, who for half a century have given substance and form to Zeffirelli's inventions and masterly accomplishments, for the joy of countless audiences.

Anna Crespi Morbio
President Amici della Scala

The book contains many illustrations and text throughout in English and Italian.

The book is in overall good condition.

The book has red boards and silver lettering to the spine.

As can be seen from the pictures there is damage to the rear cover and dust jacket where a repair job has been made. Otherwise the dust jacket is in good condition.

On the rear of the dust jacket there are some shallow impressions and marks.

There is very minor bumping on the upper front board.
