Carl Zuckmayer wurde am 27. dezember 1896 in Nackenheim am Rhein geboren. 1918 begann er ein kurzes Studium der Geistes- und Naturwissenschaften in Frankfurt am. M. und Heidelberg; wichtiger als alle Theorie waren ihm jedoch die in diesem Umfeld geschlossenen Freundschaften. 1920 ging er nach Berlin. ERste STücke blieben ohne ERfolg, erst 1925 gelang ihm der Durchbruch mit "Der fröhliche Weinberg", der ihm den Kleist-Preis eintrug. 1933 verhängten die nationalsozialisten ein Aufführungsverbot über ihn. Er zog daraufhin nach Österreich, von wo aus er 1938 in die Schweiz und später in die USA emigrierte.

Ausgezeichnete Seiten, etwas Kanten- und Jackenabnutzung. In deutscher Sprache verfasst.

Carl Zuckmayer was born on the 27th of december 1896 in Nackenheim am Rhein. In 1918 he began a short study of the humanities and natural sciences in Frankfurt am Main and Heidelberg; more important than any theory, however, were the friendships made in this environment. In 1920 he went to Berlin. The first pieces remained without success, only in 1925 he made his breakthrough with "The Merry Vineyard", which earned him the Kleist Prize. In 1933, the National Socialists imposed a performance ban on him. He then moved to Austria, from where he emigrated in 1938 to Switzerland and later to the United States.
