Cantos 1 through 16 complete, in 3 separate volumes, published between 1819 and 1824. Cantos 3 through 16 are first printings; Cantos 1 and 2 are second printings. All in octavo; size, 8 1/2" x 5 1/4". These are volumes 7, 8 and 9 of a complete set of Byron's works. Volume 7 contains Cantos 1 through 5. The first title page (for Cantos 1 and 2) lists Thomas Davison as the printer with the date 1819, and also the words "New Edition". This section is 227 pages.The second title page in this volume (for Cantos 3, 4 and 5) lists Thomas Davison as printer again, with the date of 1821. This section is 218 pages. Volume 8 contains Cantos 6 through 11. The first title page says "Printed for John Hunt", 1823. This section is 184 pages. The second title page in this volume is again John Hunt, 1823. This section is 151 pages. Volume 9 contains Cantos 12 through 16. The first title page is John Hunt, 1823. This section is 168 pages. The second title page is John and H L Hunt, 1824. This section is 129 pages. Each Canto has its own half-title page. In uniform leather bindings, with gilt goffered edges to boards and decorative spines with five bands. Two panels have title labels and four panels have floral motif. Unfortunately, the spine of volume 7 has a large chunk missing at the top, extending down about 1 inch, and so removing almost completely one of the floral motif panels. Front board of volume 7 detached, as is the free endpaper. Marbled endpapers and edges of text block speckled red on all volumes. Some light foxing, but pages inside quite clean and unmarked.
