Makers of Modern Prose

£9.99

Product description

A popular handbook to the great prose writers of the century.

Although the dust jacket is missing the cover is in fairly good condition: slight bumping on the corners and there is a slight tear at the top of the spine. The (uncut) binding is still tight and the pages are slightly yellowed. The cover is dark green in colour and the front board has the title (with art nouveau pattern underneath) at the top, embossed in gilt. The spine has the title and author's name at the top (similarly embossed in gilt and decorated) and the printer's name at the bottom in gilt.

The front fly sheet has the name of a previous owner written inside and this is dated Xmas 1899; this fly sheet is torn to a third of the way down the page. There is a contents page at the front of the book. At the back of the book is a detailed list of other books by the same author.

The text is clear and easy to read.
