The Windsor Shakespeare

£29.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Complete set of 20 volumes. Red cloth boards with gilt titling and decoration to the front board and spine. All volumes have: tanning to end papers; foxing to page edges, and foxing sporadically elsewhere; light crushing to head and tail of spine; light bumping of corners. Some volumes have a previous owner's name, or name and address, in ink to the pastedown and/or front free end paper. Other defects affect some volumes, as follows: Vol. 3 - bumping and rubbing of the corners is heavy, and there is some staining of the covers; the front and rear hinges are weakened; the title page, front free end paper, half-tile page and frontispiece are detached; an internal hinge is split; there is heavy staining to pages 19-37, and a large open tear to the upper margin of page 31/32 (of The Merchant Of Venice); and there are annotations in pencil and pen. Vol. 5 - bumping and rubbing of the corners is heavy, and there is some staining of the covers; the front and rear hinges are weakening; there are annotations in pencil and pen. Vol. 6 - pencil annotations on one page. Vol. 12 - some staining to the spine; the photograph opposite page 126 (of Henry V) is detached. Vol. 13 - the inner hinge is starting to split; pencil annotations; extraneous pages of notes in ink have been glued onto the inner margins of pages 56, 59, 61, 63, 74, 75 and 76 (of Romeo and Juliet). Vol. 20 - the front free end paper has been torn out. Although in varying conditions, the set is overall in good condition.
