Titi Lucreti Cari - De Rerum Natura - Libri Sex, Vol. 2

WAS £24.99 £14.99

Product description

1950 reprint of the second of three volumes published by Oxford at the Clarendon Press in 1947. The first volume had the text and a translation into English on facing pages. Volume two and three are the commentary on the text and its translation. Volume 2 covers books 1 to 3 of the original. The last full commentary had been done in 1860 and caused great controversy which the current authors attempted to resolve.

De Rerum Natura (On the Nature of Things) is a first-century BC didactic poem by the Roman poet and philosopher Lucretius (c. 99 BC – c. 55 BC) with the goal of explaining Epicurean philosophy to a Roman audience.

Complete with original dust jacket which has been price-clipped. There is some water staining and foxing to dust jacket and there is a white stain/mark on the dark blue boards. There to the cut edges of the pages. Internally the book is in clean condition and the binding is tight.
