Brickwork Concrete and Masonry

£60.00

Product description

A set of eight books subtitled, "A complete work by practical specialists describing modern practice in the work of the bricklayer, concretor mason, plasterer and slater." The books were originally published in 1930 but this edition is undated and was specially prepared for subscribers to the New Era Publishing Co., Ltd. Inside three volumes are three loose bookplates, provided by the publishers, which are a work of beauty and artistic merit. The design is by Mr. W. P. Barrett who had an international reputation and designed bookplates for royalty.

The books have stiff but slightly flexible boards bound in maroon cloth, with gilt titles. The gilt has faded with age and rubbing and some of the covers have light general marks, but there is very little wear. The upper text block edge is coloured maroon and the other edges are tanned. Inside pages are clean and bright. There are numerous drawings and photograph illustrations and fold-out diagrams.

The set should appeal to anyone with an interest in the development of building work and practices and the tools used.
