Class 50s on the Route from Waterloo to Exeter - Roger Siviter 1st thus PB - railway heritage

£7.99

Product description

A record of the Indian summer of an impressive and well-loved class of diesel locomotives, the 11-year reign of the English Electric Class 50s on one of Britain's most attractive main lines, the former LSWR route to the West. In words and pictures it describes a journey from Waterloo to Exeter St Davids, every view on route featuring a 'Hoover', as these popular locomotives were affectionately dubbed by enthusiasts.

The period covered is from 1980, when the 50s first entered regular service on the line, until the class's last year of operation in 1991. During this period they contributed tremendously to the revival of this still important route, not only with much-accelerated timing over the 172.5 miles, but also with good time-keeping.

1st thus paperback published by Silver Link in 2001. In excellent, hardly-read condition.
