Japanese Military Sake Cups

£100.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

Sake, a Japanese alcoholic beverage made from fermented rice, plays a central role in traditional culture and even religion. The Imperial Japanese military used this tradition in ceremonies as a toast of honour or good luck and it would seem that this required something more in keeping than the usual plain or flowered cups.

The intention of this publication is to guide and educate the inexperienced collector of cups in a field where there is a dearth of information, although the author does not claim to be an expert himself. Richard Fuller produced and published the book in 2001 and this is number 7 from of the first printing of 100 numbered and signed copies. The author has written a dedication on the title page and signed with the date 1/7/01.

The book has glossy white card covers and is bound with two bright staples. The covers have slight rubbing to corners and spine ends, and have a range of light indentation and scrubbing marks, including a cup ring indentation on the front. Inside pages are clean and bright and printed on good quality paper.
