Newnes Pictorial Knowledge Volume 7

£11.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

This is one of a set of 11 volumes for older children and
focuses on the art and culture of the world and particularly Britain with
elaboration no doubt intended to increase the interest to young people. It
includes sections covering painting, literature, music, architecture and
philosophy.  It is undated but was
probably published in the 1950s. However, earlier editions date from the 1930s and
this is seen in the very western and colonialist viewpoint taken in the entries.
To some extent this volume is interesting from that perspective alone.

The volume includes a large number of black and white
pictures within the text, 16 colour plates, 4 special colour supplements, a
special transart supplement on transparent pages and 2 photo-tone supplements.

Good condition. Two tone red leatherette boards with gilt
lettering and design to spine. White marks on front (see photo) and rubbing to
edges and corners. Pages clean with bright and clear text and images. Binding
sound. No dust jacket.
