A very good copy of an account of the London Midland and Scottish Railway at war. When the Government took control of the railways in September 1939, the LMS - the greatest of all privately owned railway companies - passed, for the duration of the war, into the national service of the country at the highest degree of maintenance and operating efficiency it had ever attained. 88pp. Endpaper route maps. Fawn cloth boards (somewhat grubby) with red titles and LMS logo. Text block clean, bright and free from inscription. Illustrations in colour are from originals executed for the company by Norman Wilkinson. There are seven tipped in scale drawings of locomotives.

We are a conventional Oxfam shop and sell anything and everything that will be of interest to someone. We have a good reputation as a second hand bookseller and are developing a reputable clothing offer. Our friendly staff are always ready and willing to assist and we are continually on the lookout for more potential recruits.
