The Watchmaker's Hand-Book

£29.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

This handbook is intended as a workshop companion for those engaged in watchmaking and the allied mechanical arts. It is translated from the French of Claudius Saunier, and considerably enlarged by Julien Tripplin, F.R.A.S. and Edward Rigg, M.A. It has numerous woodcuts and fourteen copperplates. There are fourteen fold-out plates at the back with a key to which reference will be found to each figure on the plates.
This volume is the tenth impression, with appendix, and the information provided is essentially practical in its character and as such will be of use to the watchmaker in his daily work.

The book has black boards, impressed with a watch design on the front; the gilt of the spine titles has almost all worn away. Former owner's name with date 16.10.48 written in black ink at the top of the front end paper. Corners, spine ends and some edges are bumped and there are water-stain and other general marks on the covers. Text block edges are tanned with light dust soiling and areas of light foxing speckles. The text and illustrations are clear and the bind is very sound.
