Amour Et Silence

£19.99

Product description

The text of the book is in French ; the preface of the books translates as:
The confession of friendship which has long been given us by a great and pure Chartreuse, which is very dear to us, has allowed us to have in our hands the two texts we are about to read. The first, Introduction to the interiesre life, is a reedition, it appeared in 1945. It is exhausted for a long time. It seems to us impossible to say in the simplest terms the highest things. there is in these pages a limpidite of Gospel. The second text, initiates Chapter Sermons, is unpublished. These ten little sermons were pronounced between 1940 and 1943, during the terrible years. They are arranged in chronological order. They are sources of paradise in our desolate land. The one who pronounced them writes to us: "They are not really mine, they are the thoughts of my confreres, that I told them to please them.It is the flame of their heart, on which I blew softly for the I could put a name at the end of each sentence, I see them by binding myself: Dom N., Dom ... and the one we called the Poussin: his devotion to the Blessed Virgin was tyrannical, and he I was sulking if I did not speak about it, it was the atmosphere of the spacings on the Berra, from where we came back singing, with bouquets of lychnids and soldanelles ". When they were mobilized, it was with this clarity of soul that they would treat the wounded in the ambulances or die on the front

The cover of the book is protected by a home made cover . The pages are yellowed with age but the binding is still tight. The contents page is at the end of the book Details of a previous owner are written in ink on the flysheet, along with a date and there are some pencilled notes on the title page.
