Studies in South Indian Jainism

£12.99

Product description

This book analyses the principal tenets of Jainism and their influence in the Andhra and Karnatic regions, on the evidence of tradition and Epigraphic sources. In this background, the study throws light on the history of the Andhra Country from the fall of the Satavahana to the rise of the Chalukayas.
The period under review is a subject for research, since Andhra history is a comparatively untrodden field. More over, the traces of the influence of Jainism in both regions are obscured by the Renaissance of Puranic Hinduism. This is the first attempt to give a systematic account of Jainian influence in the South.

The book is divided into three chapters , viz, (1) The evidence of tradition, (2) Epigraphic Jainica, (3) Jainism in Andhra - Karnata Tradition.

The DJ is present with some small tears to the top and bottom edges. Internally in good clean condition.

Published in 1922, this is a reprint from 1988.
