The comprehensive collection of Anglican and other liturgies - i.e. forms of the Holy Communion Service, begins with the first English Prayer Book of 1549, and includes the service of 1662 (with its variants outside England), and the English proposed revision opf 1928, together with Scottish and American Liturgies (with the variants of several dates since 1637), and the other twentith-century revisions in South Africa (1954), Canada (1959), and India (1960); there are also English versions of Anglican liturgies from tropical Africa and the Far East composed in languages other than English; and, thirdly, some notable non-Anglican forms of service in English which call for inclusion, particularly those of the Scottish 'Book of Common Order', and of the Church of South India. This is an indispensable reference book for all concerned with liturgy whether as students or as practical churchmen or both. The success of the first edition, published in 1962, has resulted in the issue of this Second Edition (1964) containing a number of small corrections and the revision of Chapter XV by more recent information.
