Third Edition published in 1958 by the Clarendon Press. The third edition was greatly extended and revised from the first edition published in 1940.

Published to coincide with the centenary of Darwin's Theory of Evolution. This works uses the science of embryology to help explain why there are some apparent gaps in the fossil records and also why there is such a large diversity in how evolution has developed in different species.

Well illustrated with drawings and photographs. Includes a useful index.

There is an inscription in the front reading: 'E Monica Jones'.
Complete with original dust jacket, which has not been price clipped. In a good clean condition throughout. Some yellowing to the dust jacket which has a few small tears along its top edge.
