Great Experiments in Physics

£12.99

Product description

Great Experiments in Physics (Contemporary Science Paperbacks) 33.

This living picture of experimental physics should interest all physicists, both the fully fledged and the embryonic. It should also help non-scientists to understand the human purpose and insight that have gone into the making of the subject.

The author has searched beneath the surface of the subject to see what caused outstanding workers to carry out there experiments. He has referred, as far as possible, to the original papers, and has uncovered some new and interesting facts; some of the early work-for instance, that of Boyle and of Dulong and Petit-was not as clear as text books would have us believe.

Contemporary Science Paperbacks are lucid, compact and authoritative. Through them, scientific and technological ideas and achievements are made readily comprehensible.

Black & White illustrations throughout and pictures in centre.

CONDITION: Fading and creasing to spine and foxing to top edge of pages and to a lesser extent on side and underside. Pages inside are clean with some yellowing and without annotations. (See photos for details)
