Great warm deserts of the world

£29.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

Written by Andrew S. Goudie
Used-Very Good
Published by Oxford University Press

"This is the first-ever regional study of the geomorphology of the world's deserts, demonstrating why different deserts have special landscape features and land-forming processes. It explains the climatic and tectonic history of deserts, showing how the histories of the deserts have been long and complex, and how they have responded to global changes in climate, particularly over the course of the last few millions of years. Each of the major warm deserts of the world is treated in detail, and the book is extensively illustrated with numerous plates and figures. A large and comprehensive bibliography provides a guide to the international literature."

Oxfam Bookshop Balham

Balham, or 'The Gateway to the South' as Peter Sellers once called it, is a bustling corner of south west London, situated between Clapham and Tooting. The area is well known for its comedy heritage, thanks in no small part to Sellers's sketch, as well as comedy circuit staple The Bedford Arms and famous residents Arthur Smith, Andy Zaltzman and Richard Herring. The area also hosts something of a literary heritage with DBC Pierre having written his Booker prize-winning first novel in Balham. Our bookshop is located on the busy High Road just down the road from the tube station which was bombed in October 1940, an event immortalised in Ian McEwan's Atonement.
