Handbook of pharmaceutical excipients

£45.00

Product description

The Handbook of Pharmaceutical Excipients is internationally recognized as one of the most authoritative and comprehensive single sources of information on pharmaceutical excipients. First published in 1986, the Handbook has grown by 40 monographs, and all of the existing monographs have been completely revised and updated. This new edition contains 250 structured monographs that describe the uses, and chemical and physical properties of some of the most important excipients used in pharmaceutical formulation. Written by nearly 100 pharmaceutical scientists with experience of the manufacture, analysis, or use of excipients, this text concisely describes a variety of materials used in dosage forms as varied as capsules, creams, injections, solutions, and tablets. Information has been assembled and critically evaluated from a variety of sources, including the primary literature and excipient manufacturers, with the final monographs being reviewed by a respected International Steering Committee. The book collects essential data, in a systematic and unified manner, for those involved in the safety, licensing, formulation, development, or production of pharmaceutical preparations. Where possible, comparative data for different grades or types of excipient from a variety of manufacturers is provided to aid the formulator in selecting the most suitable materials for specific applications. Since many pharmaceutical excipients are also used in other products, the Handbook will also be of value to those interested in the formulation or production of confectionery, cosmetics, and food products. From reviews of previous editions '...this is an excellent book and would be highly valuable as a reference text in the library of any department performing formulation preparation and with toxicological/regulatory interest...' British Toxicology Society Newsletter '.an essential book for laboratories in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, and regulatory agencies.' Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy '. an invaluable reference work for those engaged in the formulation and quality control of medicines.' Irish Pharmaceutical Union Review
