Handbooks for the Identification of British Insects, Diptera Vol IX Part 1 & 2

£14.99

Product description

Published in 1949 and 1950 respectively, these two books are in good condition overall. Internally, there appear to be few issues with the pages of the books, with only minor issues such as pencil markings. There is some foxing along the edges of the pages, which is noticeable when the books are closed. The green paper covers of the books do suffer from wear, though they are more severe on Part 2. Both covers have some discolouration, particularly along the spines. The spine on Part 2 also appears to have worn down, and there is also a 3 inch tear of the front cover along the spine, with there also being a 1 inch tear up the spine on the first page of the book. The back end cover for part 2 also appears to be watermarked and discoloured at the top. It is likely these tears occurred during the same incident. Some illustrations in Part 1 appear to have bled through to the page behind it, but luckily this is at the front and there is no writing on the page in question. appear to h The remaining issues with the covers are less severe, with there being some folded corners, and what appears to be a name written in the top right corner of each book. The book was written by H. Oldroyd, R. L. Coe, Paul Freeman and P.F. Mattingly. It was published by the Royal Entomological Society of London.
