Jersey Central Lines in Color

£19.99

Product description

This book covers the Jersey Central Lines in the 1960s and early 70s with its fascinating variety of diesel power, both owned and leased. Before the Aldene Plan detoured most of the passenger traffic away form the railroad's most impressive bridges and stations, the railroad's appearance seemed to be relatively diminished from its status as a prosperous coal hauler. As the financial picture worsened, the system was gradually truncated. As the CNJ's older Baldwin and Fairbanks-Morse diesels departed, the Baltimore & Ohio and Norfolk and Western provided some very interesting replacements. The colour schemes evolved from the green with yellow "toothpaste" stripes to solid green, then the blue and yellow B&O-inspired colours and, finally, the "Red Baron" scheme. We invite you to discover or to re-experience the operations of the Big Little Railroad in its final 15 years.

This book in Good overall condition with only some minor wear and tear on the dust jacket and a lightly sun bleach spine.
