John Myers Myers (1906-88), is remembered largely for SILVERLOCK, a fantasy, first published in 1949.
Shipwrecked off Baltimore and rescued by a mysterious sailor, A. Clarence Sheldon, a Master of Business Administration, embarks on a picaresque, physical and allegorical journey through the 'Commonwealth' of literature. He encounters numerous characters and situations from world literature and mythology - the Ass of Apuleius, Beowulf, Puck, Robin Hood, Manon Lescaut, Becky Sharp, Izaak Walton, Friar John from Rabelais, Huck Finn, Don Quixote, the Green Knight and the goddess Circe, culminating in a descent into Dante's Hell.
This edition also contains the 142 page The Silverlock Companion.
This book is described as being in "very good" condition but is actually almost as new apart from the slight signs of usage shown in photographs #6 and #7.
