Facing Unpleasant Facts, 1937-1939

WAS £29.99 £14.99

Product description

Facing Unpleasant Facts, the eleventh volume of Orwell’s complete works, contains articles and correspondence dating from the years 1937-9.
The most important document that has come to light regarding Orwell's Spanish experiences is the deposition charging him and Eileen with espionage and high treason - a charge unknown to them at the time. This charge can now be viewed in the context of the disputes that then divided the Left – conflicts well illustrated by the letters and documents printed here (notably Orwell’s bitter response to Authors Take Sides on the Spanish War). This volume also includes a sequence of letters that throws a completely new light on Orwell's personal relationships.
The edges of the cover are very slightly scuffed, and the pages a little yellowed, but the book is otherwise in very good condition.
