Psychological Research : the ideas behind the methods by Douglas G. Mook

£12.99

Product description

This book is in very good condition, on the front cover there are some faint lines and slight damage to the bottom corner edge but otherwise it is in very good condition. There are some small marks on the front end papers and the top of the page edges but otherwise internally the book is clean, tight and unmarked.

A text aimed at undergraduates, "Psychological Research" confronts students' fears and misconceptions about the field while covering a full range of topics. The text presents examples from different branches of psychology and establishes that the methods and principles are the same throughout the discipline.;In order to dispel the misconception that research is a narrow scope, the text emphasizes both the immediate consequences of experimental results and the broader contexts in which results can be applied. Every chapter reinforces the belief that psychological research builds on a familiar core of ideas, and emphasizes that the standard procedures of good research are not mysterious or esoteric.;"Psychological Research" includes abbreviated coverage of statistics. Building on the intuitive approach featured throughout the volume, Professor Mook emphasizes the value of learning how to use statistics over the memorization of formulas and equations. He demonstrates the role of statistics in designing an experiment, interpreting results and presenting findings, while keeping mathematical calculations to a minimum. "Making Friends With Statistics" sections appear at the end of each chapter for clarity and flexibility.
