Satow’s Guide to Diplomatic Practice

£9.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

This is the fifth edition of the classic, authoritative guide to diplomatic law and practice. Sir Ernest Satow was a British diplomat who began to compose the original work after his retirement in 1905. The first edition was published in 1917 and soon became internationally recognized as a guide for diplomats. It has been revised several times since. Satow himself prepared a second edition taking into account changes to international diplomatic practice following the 1919 Paris peace conference and the formation of the League of Nations. Later editions were all revised by eminent retired diplomats. The fifth edition was prepared by Lord Gore-Booth, a former Permanent Under-Secretary of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Published in 1979 it reflected the international environment of the Cold War era. The book contains sections on general diplomacy, diplomatic agents, consular matters, international transactions and international organisations including the United Nations and the Commonwealth.

Condition:
