Written at the beginning of the 20th century, Rinchen Lhamo's "We Tibetans", remains one of the most engaging and comprehensive accounts of Tibet and her people ever to have appeared. Born and raised in Kham, Tibet's eastern province, the author was the first Tibetan woman in history to marry a European (British Consul at Tachienlu), leave her homeland and settle in the West. Throttled by her new life into an alien world, she nevertheless kept the traditional Tibetan composure, humour and keenness of observation, out of which she has forged her book.
The historical introduction is written by the author's husband, Louise Magrath King. There are black and white photos throughout the book.
Published 1985, but originally published by Seeley Service Co, London, in 1926.
Paperback. The edges of the pages are slightly browned, but otherwise the book is in good condition.
