A tour to the caves in the environs of Ingleborough and Settle

£12.99

Product description

Published 1970. Facsimile of 1781 edition, so contains some printing defects present in original copy.

Some wear and creasing to edges of jacket. Some yellowing through age.

In the latter part of the eighteenth century it became fashionable among the English gentry to visit the Lake District. A few turned aside from the well-trodden tourist tracks to visit the caves and potholes in the Settle and Ingleton area of the West Riding of Yorkshire. The 1781 edition of this book was an amplification and extension of the author's original notes and also contains a glossary of old English words then in use in the North of England.
