The players range from those who have a connection with the county who have subsequently played for England - for example Jack Sharpe at the beginning of the century, Reg Perks in the 1930s and the Richardson brothers in the 1950s and 60s - to anyone who has turned out on occasion to wield a bat or bowl a ball for Herefordshire cricket club. The grounds range from relatively flat to those that have hosted minor county cricket. The matches and teams are numerous and move from fierce neighbourly rivalry, to the likes of Kington winning the Whitbread village championship trophy in the final Lords. The leagues include day and evenings ones in specific parts of the county and those that span the complete county.
