A scarce copy of a book about Doble steam cars, which were regarded as the Rolls-Royce of their class. It also covers Doble buses, lorries and railcars. With a preface by Abner Doble himself, the book provides complete and interesting coverage of all Doble productions, from those of the First World War days, through the Doble-Detroit and Models D, and F, to the Doble steam buses, Henschel-Doble and Sentinel-Doble triple-expansion designs. Copiously illustrated with b/w photographs of contemporary and restored Dobles, many clear b/w diagrams, and quotes from company reports, catalogues and instruction books, it will be fascinating to steam-car enthusiasts.
The pictorial dust jacket has suffered from a previous owner's strips of sticky tape to reinforce it, to prevent edge wear. The false title page has some black ink date and price information in small neat writing, apart from that and a crease on page 153 the book is in very good order. All text is clear on clean, glossy photo paper pages, and the b/w diagrams are particularly detailed.
