Product description

David Thurlow
Foreword by Barry Norman
The Parrs Wood Press, Manchester, 2000.

Hardback; 155 x 220 mm; black boards with gold titles on spine; xvi & 192 pages. Original unclipped dust jacket. Thirty-two monochrome photographs.
The book is in very good condition but very slightly cocked. The top of the dust jacket is bumped. There is a smudge on page 63.
Kenneth Farnes (1911 – 1941) was an English cricketer. He played in 15 Tests from 1934 to 1939. He was tragically killed in a night flying accident and English cricket mourned his loss. In this book David Thurlow aims to uncover the real Kenneth Farnes. Through the personal testimonies of Farnes’s colleagues on the cricket field and in the classroom, and his autobiography and tour diaries, Thurlow brings to life one of the most engaging characters cricket has ever produced, one of the last great gentleman amateurs.
