Regards Vers L'Annapurna - Maurice Herzog, Marcel Ichac - Signed Copy

£150.00

Product description

Photographs from the French expedition of 1950 which was the first to successfully climb Annapurna I. Introduced by Maurice Herzog, leader of the expedition. Text in French. No d'edition - 515

Signed on the half title by Ichac, Herzog and a third person, presumably another member of the expedition. Ichac signs it to Emlyn Jones. Jones was a member of the British expedition led by H.W. Tilman, which was in the Annapurna range at the same time. Herzog's inscription, , also presumably to Jones, reads "A mon 'confrere' de l'Himalaya - que j'ai failli rencontrer ... a Managboth!" (a village in the Annapurna range". The third inscription also mentions a failure to meet up in Manangboth - we are unable to decipher the signature.

Softcover book in good condition Corners bumped and creased, shelfwear to edges, some discolouration to covers and spine. With dust wrapper in fair to good condition in protective wrapper. Corners and ends of spine bumped and chipped, wear to edges and folds, some paper loss at back end of spine, spine discoloured.
