The Bobbin Lace Manual

£60.00

Product description

Geraldine Stott has written an introduction to a variety of lacemaking techniques. The emphasis in the book is on Torchon, Bedfordshire and Braided and Modern laces. One section is devoted to the basic differences between types of lace. Throughout the book the reader is guided through a series of projects with the aid of step-by-step instructions, prickings and photographs. Colour coding is used to assist the reader: red for wholestitch and blue for halfstitch.

The book itself is in near-fine condition with only minor rubbing to corners and faint foxing speckles on the upper text block edge. The jacket has light general handling marks and slight scratching on the glossy surface plus light rubbing noticeable in the dark areas; no tears, a little edge creasing. On the front free end paper is a decorative ex-libris bookplate with a former owner's name.

The work is a progressive complete lacemaking course, valuable for beginners and intermediate lacemakers. Geraldine Stott is the author and co-author of several standard practical guides and reference books.
