The Principles and Practice of Aikido

£14.99

Product description

The Principles and Practice of Aikido

Senta Yamada, 6th Dan Aikido, 6th Dan Judo, and Alex Macintosh

Arco Publishing Company Inc, New York, 1966.

Hardback; 180 x 255 mm; black boards with gold titles on spine; 126 pages. No dust jacket.

The book is in good condition. The binding is sound though the book is slightly bowed. Minimal wear to the covers. Some page end tanning and some tanning of the fly title.

“It is generally thought that aikido is difficult to understand and that progress in the art is not at all easy because of the great number of complicated techniques employed in the repertoire...Considering these things, I (Kenji Tomiki) eventually organised what has become known as Tomiki Aikido, a system of scientifically planned techniques which can be learned easily and practiced both in kata (exercise forms) and in randori (free play) and which will enable the student to make progress and regular improvement. It is this system of Tomiki Aikido which is explained and demonstrated here. Mr Yamada understands my methods thoroughly and is able to teach them well. It is therefore with pleasure that I recommend this book to the many people who are interested in the study of aikido.”
