Bangladesh Beckons is a publication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs serving both as a coffee table book , and as a useful guidebook for the everyday traveller. The book aims to capture the true essence of Bangladesh ¿ the land , the rivers , the colours, and the festivals. It is also about the people of this deltaic land, their simple joys and sorrows, passion that move them and their pride. 16n Battuta, the 14th century Arab traveler, wrote of Bangladesh as an alluvial land of opulence, of the splendor of its harvests, of hundreds of rivers and rivulets, and a prosperous nation with links to the outside world.
