Patara: The History and Ruins of the Capital City of Lycian League

£29.99

Product description

Translated by Merih Çobanoglu. Signed ad inscribed by Isik. Patara (Patar in Hittite language, Pttara in Lycian language) is located near the Gelemi village in Antalya province on the southwestern coast of Turkey. Patara, an ancient Lycian harbour city, can be dated back to the 8th century B.C. It is said that the city was founded by Patarus, a son of Apollo. In ancient times, the Xanthus River flowed through Patara, where was the only entrance to the Xanthos valley. Thus Patara became a very important harbour city and flourished because of trade throughout history. This rare 2000 paperback book is in very good condition apart from some faint minor scratches to the cover. Secondhand copies of the book start on AbeBooks at £63.09 and on Amazon Marketplace at £35.
