Spectacular Ireland

£25.99

Product description

A magnificent collection of more than 140 colour photographs by some of Ireland's best landscape photographers and elegant text by Peter Harbison, one of Ireland's most distinguished archaeologists.

This handsome volume celebrates Ireland, a small island country of extraordinary beauty, fascinating history, and evocative myths and legends where the old and the new thrive together in an interesting mix. From ancient standing stones and portal dolmens o breathtaking pastoral scenes, exuberantly colourful gardens and energetic cities of architectural sophistication, we take a photographic tour reflecting the soul and passion of this spectacular island.

Peter Harbison was, for many years, editor of Ireland of the Welcomes, an internationally acclaimed magazine devoted to Irish culture. Dr Harbison has held several noted positions and written many books, including The Guide to National Monuments, The Archaeology of Ireland and Irish Art and Architecture. He also edited The Guide to Ireland.

This volume is in excellent condition and comes complete with dust-jacket with photographs of Rock of Cashel, Co. Tipperary (by Peter Zoeller) on the front and Traditional Irish Cottage, Co. Limerick (by Liam Blake) on the back. The boards are green in colour with the title in embossed gilt on the front; on the spine the title, author's name and publisher's mark is embossed in gilt.

The (cut) binding is in excellent condition and the text is clear & legible. The flysheet has a map of Ireland with place names numbered and marked. The illustrated contents sheet is on page 15
