Product description

This novel by Russian novelist Valentin Katayev, published 1967, was translated by Max Hayward and Harold Shukman. It is the story of a life conveyed in the form of dreams which come to an old man while he is having an operation and is under an anaesthetic. Katayev is described as one of the best known and most talented of the older generation of Soviet writers (in 1967).
This hardback edition still has its dust cover, which is worn and a little torn along edges and spine. It is also stained. The boards are sound but worn along the edges. The pages are clean, yellowed with age, and age marked along the page edges.
