The Silent Traveller in The Yorkshire Dales

£10.99 Out Of Stock

Product description

For the last three years Mr. Chiang Yee has delighted the British public with the accounts of his 'silent' observations of the Lake District, of London, and of life in Wartime England. This year the restrictions caused by the intensification of the war have prevented even 'silent travelling', and Mr. Chiang has fallen back on the harvest of memory he has garnered during his six years' residence in this country from the many he has paid to a friend in the Yorkshire Dales. The result is a charming book that transports the reader out of the world of bombs and sirens into a land that is just as real but lit not with searchlights but with the light of the imagination.

2nd Edition published in 1941 with illustrations by the author. The dust cover is torn in areas but still in one piece. The hard cover has light foxing all over but it structurally sound. The glue of the binding has started to separate in the very middle pages of the book, however it still holds together well. On the first page of the book is a message written in Latin by the previous owner of the book, which adds to its charm.
