Rare Ceramicarte Cascais Pottery Fish Teapot Signed LS Luis Soares Portugal 1987

£34.99

Product description

The ceramics of Cascais was recreated by Luís Soares, in the late seventies, with a unique style, modern nature, based on decorative techniques already employed in prehistoric pottery place. The incision of the design in the glaze of the piece is comparable to the technique applied by the local potters of 4,000 years ago, when they decorated the style with the soft clay of the walls of their vessels.

The current artistic design employed in Ceramicarte is free composition, inspired by the fauna and flora of the sea that bathes the beaches and cliffs of this region. The fish is king and lord in the applied reasons, not existing two alike, because the sketch and painting are of manual execution.

This teapot is signed on the base with LS (Luis Soares) 87. In excellent condition with no cracks or discolouration but with a tiny chip to the spout that is not visible but feels rough to the touch. Teapot height 14 cm and diameter 12 cm.
