Vintage Qing Dynasty Silver and Enamel Comb Qing Dynasty

£150.00

Product description

A wonderful example of a Qing Dynasty silver and enamel comb, marked on both thick teeth with Chinese writing, could be either the maker or date or silver mark. This comb has been looked at by John Benjamin an expert on the Antiques Roadshow and was dated at c1890 and the decoration represents three stages of the Lotus Flower, Bud, Flower and Seed. The fine 26 teeth are round and the two heavier ones are flat with markings. The enamel is damaged in several places and could be restored by an expert. The colours are green, blue and pale versions of those colours.

The Qing dynasty, also known as the Qing Empire, officially the Great Qing, was the last imperial dynasty of China, established in 1636 and ruling China from 1644 to 1912. It was preceded by the Ming dynasty and succeeded by the Republic of China. The Qing multi-cultural empire lasted almost three centuries and formed the territorial base for the modern Chinese state.

Dimensions: 5 1/2" along the profile of the head, 1 1/2" depth to the head and the combs are 2 1/2" - 2"
