£480.00

Product description

Sunflower by Howard Carter for Heals fabrics 1962 furnishing fabric! Stunning vintage sunflower fabric that features green sunflowers in a line down the middle and yellow sunflower head shapes either side. This amazing find has been kept in storage and it's potential has not been utilised. Would make some wonderful furnishing pieces!

The V&A museum currently holds a section of the design in a different colour palette. Carter's Sunflower textile was a part of the 1960s trend for giant and painterly botanical on a white ground, which became popular among designers. This design won the 1962 Council of Industrial Design Award becoming very influential. Heal's was founded in 1941 as a subsidiary of the long-established firm Heal & Son and was originally known as Heal's Wholesale and Export Ltd. After the Second World War the company began to specialise in furnishing fabrics and in 1958 changed its name to Heal Fabrics.
