This edition from Feb 3rd 1940 has the caption and photograph of Two Tommies in Paris. The feature on pages 18 -22 follow Alan Brown ant Thomas Dobson from Guilford as they do Paris on their one day of leave. Poignantly this light hearted article was followed by the fall back to
Dunkirk and the troop evacuation on 26th May to 4th June. The German army entered Paris on the 14th of June and Hitler too posed before the Eiffel Tower but he didn't get to keep it.

An authentic and contemporary publication at a tumultuous time in European history a valuable and richly pictorial source of information of the people their concerns, interests and lifestyles in 1940. It includes beauty tips, fashion and even a knitting pattern also the advertised products of the time some with contemporary artwork and not least many striking black and white photographs.

The magazine is in good readable condition and the pages and cover appear to be complete. There is some foxing to the back cover and the inner edges of the pages have darkened with age. The staples although rusty are firm and the pages, the paper of which remains pliable, are held secure and open easily.
