Orient Line SS Oronsay Souvenir bulb vase

£12.99

Product description

This is a souvenir probably purchase on board the SS Oransay. The SS Oronsay was completed in 1951 at Vickers-Armstrongs, Barrow-in-Furness. She sailed on the Orient Line through the Suez Canal. This bulb vase was bought between 1951 and 1975 when she was broken up. Interestingly, David Bowie travelled on the Oronsay in 1973. This vase is tarnished and needs some attention to bring it back to its former glory. There is a slight dent in the rim. The crest is in fair condition with some blue enamel missing. Photographs online show the Oronsay had a glamorous sun deck and dining room and this item captures some of the excitement of travel by sea at this time.
