The Calendar Girl's Ladies of Rylstone Alternative WI Calendar June 2000 - December 2001

£55.00

Product description

The calendar that changed forever the world's perception of the WI and raised many thousands of pounds for the Leukaemia Research Fund.

When Angela (Miss February) Baker's husband John fell terminally ill and then sadly died from leukaemia in 1998, eleven members of the Rylstone & District Women's Institute decided to make an alternative WI calendar to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. The rest is history and Hollywood, books and finally a musical.
The calendar sold 88,000 copies in the UK in 1999 and a further 2400,000 in America. The aim to raise £5000 for leukaemia research and to have a calendar dedicated to John’s memory has raised over five million pounds for Bloodwise the charity’s new name.
