SCREEN ICONS JAMES MASON PG

£9.99

Product description

4 disc box-set featuring classic James Mason movies. '5 Fingers' (1952) is a World War 2 espionage thriller based on the real-life memoirs of L.C. 'Cicero' Moyzisch. Mason is the anti-hero protagonist, a man known to his superiors only by the code-name Cicero. Outwardly the efficient and discreet valet of the British Ambassador to Ankara in Turkey, he is in fact acting as a ruthless spy, photographing top-secret documents detailing plans for the D-Day invasion and selling them to the highest bidder - which just happens to be the Nazi government. 'The Man Between' (1953) is set prior to the end of the Cold War and Mason stars as a sardonic double agent. He finds himself falling in love with the beautiful and very British Claire Bloom while dogged by the pressures of political espionage and the attentions of his Cold War counterpart, Hildegard Neff. In 'The Man In Grey' (1943) Clarissa befriends impoverished stunner Hesther who then repays her friendship by trying to steal Clarissa's evil husband. An all-star cast (Margaret Lockwood, Mason, Phyllis Calvert and Stewart Granger) bring this elaborate, romantic, melodramatic costume drama to life. In 'Odd Man Out' (1946) Mason plays a hitman in a tense, atmospheric thriller from the director of 'The Third Man'. Johnny (James Mason) is the idealistic leader of an illegal organisation on the run after escaping from prison. An attempt to hold up a linen mill goes wrong and Johnny is badly wounded. As the police hunt him down, Johnny searches for Kathleen, the woman who loves him.

Used but in very good condition, perhaps played only once.

Oxfam Books & Music Olney

Welcome to Oxfam Books And Music Olney, situated just off the market square in Stanley Court opposite the Co-op. Come and browse our extensive selection of books, music, DVDs, computer games and cards. In our shop you can discover a great range of material from the latest modern fiction to classic literature and vintage LPs. We are always happy to receive your donations of books or music, and you can choose to Gift Aid them to Oxfam. We might also be able to collect particularly large donations - just ask. We are always interested in hearing from people who wish to volunteer with us. Just pop in to collect an application form.

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
