In music, the Baroque period lasted roughly from 1600 to 1750. It was a period typified by the ornate, and by the immense variety of musical forms, from the short monodies of the Florentine Camerata to the larger instrumental forms utilizing the recently invented technique of concertato - the opposing and balancing of contrasted groups.
