Cornago : Missa De La Mapa Mundi / Secular Music Of 15th Century Spain

£12.99

Product description

Missa de la mapa mundi is part of the 'Italian Song' composed by Johannes Cornado in the 15th century while working at the court of Naples, and reflects the close relationship between Spain and Italy at that time. It is performed by soloists and members of His Majestie's Clerkes, directed by Paul Hillier. The secular music is mostly taken from the Codex Columbina, acquired by the son of the famous explorer in about 1534 for his personal library, one of the earliest surviving manuscripts containing records of secular Spanish music. This part of the album was performed by The Newberry Consort, directed by Mary Springfels. Released in 1992 under the Harmonia Mundi label, with extensive booklet notes. Some scuffing and small marks to the booklet notes, in good condition with no damage to the disc.
